Objectified

ISSUES

Mass Production

Industrial object is about mass production that used by million people.

Evolution of Objects

The colony of China made their own arrow for their bow and if one colony die, other colony can not use other arrow in that war.

Designed not designed

Every object has a story. Every things that we use from the moment we wake up is designed but we do not realised that things are designed.

Design Wise

As a designer, we have to understand what people need. Every object has it function depends on how we use and where we use it, in the kitchen, garage, garden, all different shape. For example the woman complained about the peeler because hurt her hands. Designer should design for the 'extreme' people because the middle can take care themselves.

Understand what people need
We have to understand how can really know where is point for better experience and understand the low and high pressure is. Design is how we can make people easier to finish their job (For example the grass cutter, designers make there are some shape on the handle so make people have control of their hands to use it)

Good Design

user react positively when things are clear and easy to understand. That is the challege for designers to make something that really 'friendly' with users.
- Good design should be innovative
- Good design should make a product useful
- Good design is aesthetic design
- Good design will make a product understandable
- Good design is honest
- Good design is unobtrusive
- Good design is consistent in every detail
- Good design is environmental friendly
- Good design is as little designed as possible

Apple
A big definition of designer is who you are, its the way you look at the world. What you do is consistently look at something and "why is it like that? and not like this?" when we design a product we have to look to different attribute (the materials and the forms). We have different approach in designing something. Physically it is just how you connect with the object. When something develop, that is a reason but sometimes it feels like almost undesigned. Every product is produce in different process. It is really important that the product have its hierarchy.  One part developed a lot of functions.

Design Revolution
Design is moving. It change from the way it looks, shape, materials to increasly the intangible.

3 phases of design
-looking at the design, the formal relationship, formal logic to the object, the act form giving
- The symbolism of context and what you dealing with. Its back to habit and the form guidance the designer, but how that form should be, how it look
- Looking at the technological context to the object, and looking at between human and the object relationship.

When things go well, it is simple. Designers understand what people need, perhaps even better than they do on questions of ergonomics on how to organize their space. A central goal in design is to create an appropriate environment where people feel good. The hardest thing that designer have to do is remove unnecessary things to get in the way of maximum unity.

Materials
sometimes there is an excuse to use in other area. As a designer, we have to look to the future. As a designer, fundamentally non dispensable and somehow trying to offer product. Sometimes we have to think about how its dead badly. Its about how new thing. good design doesn't necessary cost more , it could be cost less. But sometimes its a way of company because it has a "value".

Demography
Good design doesn't always because we were rich or educated in art/design , it because we can find it easily with cost more and cost less with good quality and bad quality.

New Things
Basic idea of good design is about what you want, distinct with market progress. Market is want more stuffs and they want people want to people buy. We tend to want new things. They can do something for different look.

Motion
When people design cars, they are trying to make somthing sexy in teory but in reality, they’re just bending metals, plastics, glass. When designers design cars; they have to put a movement or motion in the design because those cars are frozen in time.

Emotion
If you look at art, you are touched by something, it can change your life because in that moment it moves you, you have an emotion. You have that an object will also do that to someone.  “Would you buy this? Would you spend money on this?” That is an important reason, you are working for a target audience. Sort of puzzle that build the layers of product and one of the layers is to try to create individual element in that industrial work. It makes you feel that you are buying an object, where the attention is been paid to the human, details.

Design is about mass production. Design use industry to produce goods. Designer try to change the people that say don't care about design, dont believe about design, but design have big affect in people life.

We think the things beautiful is because it very self contain and the message very strong, and very simple. we have strong relationship with physical products. Thw big issue of design is what we are doing and can make affect and change.

Sustainability
The biggest challenge for designers is sustainability.
What we design always end up being disposed, so why do we have to built everything to be permanent?

We have to make something that has powerful value, it would make people always remember our design.

PROPOSED

  • Standarization - The design of the arrow, so each arrow can fit to any body
  • Designer design/make the stuff that  can be good for everybody
  • Design/produce the stuff for the "extreme" people the middle can take care themselves.
  • Just remove the unnecessary part, and be useful
  • We have to make something that can be have strong relationship with us
  • little details just like unimportant things and we often pass it, but details is the poweful things.
