{ I chose West Sumatera, Padang, more precisely Minangkabau tribe. It because not many people know about Padang, but they know "Rendang" - beef cooked with traditional spices of Padang and become number one of 'The most delicious food in the world }
- SPORT SYMBOL SKETCHES -
- SHAPE & ELEMENT -
{ I want to pick the shape of their traditional house and their hat, which is popular too. I am thinking to make this symbol unisex because Olympic games are for male and female. So i combined the shape of women's hat and men's 'semi skirt' with batik pattern from Padang }
- MINANGKABAU TRIBE TRADITIONAL CLOTHES -
{ I have split the entire sport games into eight categories (you can see on mind map). Because the eight categories, i also picked eight different batik pattern from Padang to distinguish them by category. I traced and mask clipping-ed them. So i have got the idea of the symbol later }
- FIRST TRIAL -
{ These are only trial, i deliberated the random shape as their backgrounds with red and yellow colours because the random shape is symbol of Indonesia, that is islands, and the colours will present the categories. - shape and colour will not be like you see now, it will be modify later}
- SPORTS -
{ I already saved some photos and i will trace them manually on tracing paper and scan it, i think that will produce more similar body form }
- TRACED -
{ All of my artwork will be the real body shape of the participant's body, but some result looks weird -_- But i can guarantee that is real body shape! }

{ These are some steps i made the pictogram, one by one. }
- ILLUSTRATION -
{ There are eight different patterns for the hat and 'skirt', one pattern is use for one category. I made it black on white and white on black for just in case. I made them in Illustrator by trace them using pen tool, the clipping mask for hat and skirt. }
- LOGO -
{ For the logo, i want to use the traditional shape of Padang. At first, i put it on the top but looks like devil. Then i changed it become the shape. I also want to put Olympic logo and year together in the logo to make me easier to put logo anywhere. Red and yellow are main colour because they can present the warmness as welcome and spirit to win the competition }

- POSTER -
{ Firtsly, i made the poster landscape with 8 colours because on the first idea, i will divide them by the category. But after i ask Mr. Angga and he said we have to make this poster portrait, i rotated the art board and also want to change the look and feel. The logo is bold and strong, if these pictograms are colourful, they will ruin the power of that logo. I decided to change the colour and become red to yellow theme. After Quality Control by email, Mr. Angga chose 1 and asked me to change the bounding box become 1 colour. Then i changed them - look at the final poster! }
